"How and what we communicate has the potential to change the atmosphere, creating the context for people to be released to their destiny. Therefore our communication skills must come under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Done correctly, our words are able to release the presence of God into people's lives through the expression of compassion and concern."
This paragraph spoke to me because this is what I have been trying to accomplish through my writing even though I'm not yet published. But I also hear God telling me to share myself with you now and this can be my way to release God's presence into your lives.
One of the ways I retreat to be with Jesus is through visualization. I have always connected with the image of Jesus as the Shepherd and when I want to go to my "happy place", this is where I find Him waiting for me. I see Him waiting for me on a green hill covered with grazing sheep. He is always standing next to a rock waiting for my arrival. Just closing my eyes and picturing this, I hear Him welcome me. Often we then proceed down a path to a huge, green leafy tree where we sit together to talk and watch over the sheep. Jesus will hold me where I feel warm, comforted and secure. I will often do this at night and fall asleep in His arms.
Reading Psalm 91:1 today made me see that I am abiding in the shadow each time I retreat with Jesus. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty." Jesus is my shelter and we abide under the shadow of God when we rest under the tree together.
Now it's your turn. Where do you retreat with Jesus? Where is your "happy place"? Feel free to share. I'd love to hear from you.
